Marjan Forest Park is located on theSplit Peninsula in westernmost tip of Split. It is called the lungs of the city offering a vast area of greenery and recreational places. It is a perfect choice for those people who are bored with crowds and noise of the city. Numerous paths among trees' shades, charming corners, sunny beaches and landscape dotted with ancient chapels. Marjan Hill is proudly towering over the surroundings. It offers scenic views from the height of 178m. Funs of cycling are also welcome. There are plentiful paved roads and routes to choose from. Endless greenery is not only one thing you can enjoy there. An old cemetery can be discovered on a cliff. St. Jere Church was built into the rock face in the 15th century. The zoo seems to be a interesting attraction being the smallest one in the world. Marjan Forest Park also offers beaches: Kasjuni and Bene. Whereas Kasjuni beach is rather pristine, and dedicated to nudists, Bene beach offers recreational area with tennei courts, playgrrounds, a restaurant, etc.
It is forbidden to drive across the park, but there is a park by the Northern Gate. Marjan Park can be reached from the city by climbing to Vidilica, from the southern side or take a bus from Riva or a little train departing in front of the National Theatre in Split.
