The west end of Split peninsula is covered by Marjan park. There are located several beaches spread around the Marjan Hill.
The beach Kasjuni it is gravel-sandy beach situated on south slopes of Marjan Mountain, 2-2,5km from the city centre. On the beach, there can be found a coffee bar and toilets as well as a long breakwater which protects tourists from wind.
The Kasteler Beach is located in a bay before Kasjuni. It is a gravel beach with little pebbles. There are caffes, bars with snacks.
The most popular beach of Split, it is Bacvice beach. The beach can be found about 1 km from the city centre in the direction to a harbour. This sandy beach is often overcrowded. Plenty of people both locals and foreigners come here to sun them selves or spend time in water. They often play in a popular game called 'picigin' which rule is to keep the small ball in midair. There is also a coffee bar, pizzerias, cafes. There is a possibility to borrow deckchairs or sunshades. At nights, bars and clubs are open and the whole area resound with music.
In the Bacvice Bay, there is the another beach – Ovcice with great water but there is also numerous people.
The other pebble beach is located 1,5km south of Ovcice. It is called Znjan. The area of Znjan is 1 km long and it consists of several bays (pebble, rocky, sandy). This area is a great place for children who can use trampolines or bouncy castles there.
Firule beach offers sandy beaches and concrete area. It is a popular family friendly beach with shallow sea.
The most of beaches are situated far from the city centre, so the great idea is to use public means of tranport or choose a bicycle.
